History

Ratchet & Clank re-imagined

Movie

The 2016 re-imagined game is primarily an unreliable retelling of events by Qwark.
The re-imagined game primarily describes Captain Qwark's account of events. As Qwark is an unreliable narrator, and contradictory events are in-universe fiction (though those which correspond still apply). Please see Project:Bulletin board/Canon for the wiki's coverage of canon.

In Qwark's retelling, the Warmonger became available to purchase for 28,000 bolts on Batalia. With use, it upgraded to the Peacemaker. The Warmonger was also upgraded using Raritanium. The basic upgrades were fourteen upgrades increasing the holocard drop rate by +4% per upgrade, ten impact damage upgrades increasing damage by +10% per upgrade, fourteen area of effect upgrades increasing the damage by +10% per upgrade, and eight rate of fire upgrades decreasing the time interval between each shot by 28.5% per upgrade. There were four mystery upgrades: two Microrocket Expansion upgrades unlocked by purchasing surround upgrades on the left and right released an additional microrocket when the rocket directly fired exploded, the Heavy Bearings upgrade on the bottom increased the Warmonger's ammo capacity, and the Thermal Targeting upgrade targeted enemies automatically once unlocked.

In the holofilm, the Warmonger is one of the weapons Qwark gives to Ratchet during his training for the Galactic Rangers.

All 4 One

The Warmonger could be purchased from Deadgrove onwards for 6,000 bolts, and began with 6 rockets. Allies using Warmongers in combination would cause a large explosion. It could be upgraded to 10 rockets with the Ammo upgrade for 10,000 bolts, and its power could be upgraded with the Power upgrade for 25,000 bolts and the Elite upgrade for 60,000 bolts.

The Warmonger could be purchased upon reaching the Korgon Refinery on Markazia. It began with 5 rockets, and once upgraded to LVL 3, became the Alpha Warmonger with 7 rockets. The Warmonger Turret was also available, with the slowest rate of fire but highest damage of the turrets.

In multiplayer, the Warmonger had three missiles (originally five, reduced in patch 1.04).

The Warmonger was available to purchase upon reaching planet Thram. It upgraded with Raritanium upgrades, including upgrades to its ammo, rate of fire, blast radius, and shrapnel cache, and also had a special heat-seeking rocket upgrade allowing missiles to lock onto enemies. It could also be upgraded to V3, transforming it to the Peacemaker, which shot out shrapnel to hit enemies upon reaching an opponent.

Characteristics

The Warmonger is a green rocket launcher with a short handle and six large revolving barrels containing yellow rockets. It fires two rockets with each shot.

The Peacemaker is largely similar in appearance to the Warmonger.

Combat

The Warmonger is a powerful weapon with a low rate of fire and initially low ammunition. While it is effective at defeating most enemies, it can run out of ammunition if not fired conservatively, and fires slowly, making it relatively ineffective against large hordes of enemies. It is best used against tougher enemies, bosses, as well as mini-bosses such as gargathons.

In both Into the Nexus and Ratchet & Clank, several Raritanium upgrades can alleviate its shortcomings, such as the ammo, rate of fire and blast radius upgrade that allow it to be more broadly effective. Additionally, when upgraded to the Warmonger, missiles dispense shrapnel or microckets when they hit targets which can hit surrounding enemies. This makes the Warmonger more broadly useful when upgraded, and more useful against clusters of smaller enemies, though it is still best used against larger enemies primarily.

Behind the scenes

The Warmonger used the same icon as the Negotiator.

The Warmonger featured in 8-bit Mini Mayhem‏ and in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
