Vernon,[1] also known as Kid B,[2] is a minor character in Deadlocked. He is one of three children who were fans of DreadZone that featured in numerous DreadZone commercials and in a focus test for DreadZone products. Vernon is a humanoid with blue-gray skin, two antennae, and three fingers, appearing to be a member of the same species as Eugene and Lucy, who also appeared in the commercials. Vernon was a fan of Reactor, before Ratchet defeated him.
Vernon first appeared in a commercial for DreadZone trading cards, first using a spider-tank card before using a Reactor card to beat Eugene.[3] His next appearance was in a commercial for DreadZone pajamas, in which he cosplayed Reactor while saying he could "eat metal".[4] Later, he was Subject 137 in a focus test where he was shown an Ace Hardlight action figure. Vernon called Ace Hardlight a "tool" before enthusiastically saying he would buy merchandise for Ratchet, dubbing him "that lombax guy who smoked Reactor".[5]
Vernon later appeared on Vox News following Ace Hardlight's defeat; though he was cheering for Ratchet, Dallas Wanamaker dubbed over his voice with "Ratchet is a malicious criminal, he must be punished!" instead.[6]
Vernon was on the final escape shuttle fleeing DreadZone Station alongside Eugene and Lucy, as well as Ratchet, Clank, and many other escapees.[7] After escaping, he, along with Eugene and Lucy, joined the Ratchet Fan Club founded by Al.[8]
Vernon is an unlockable skin in both single player and multiplayer.
