The space combat levels appeared in Ratchet & Clank (2002 game), Going Commando, Tools of Destruction, and A Crack in Time. In these space levels, Ratchet and Clank flew through outer space in a spacecraft fighting enemies who tried to ambush them. In Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked, they were replaced with Hovership sequences. In Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank, there were space combat sequences with Giant Clank.
Ratchet & Clank
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Secret Agent Clank
Another space combat included in the second game. Giant Clank only flew in the Quasar Fields to find his ship.
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Tools of Destruction's space combat levels, while modified to be more point A to point B, were made a little bit more repetitive than the others as, instead of a large open area where Ratchet must destroy the enemies or bosses standing in his way, he has no control over where he is going and can only control his ship's angle and his targeting reticle to dodge obstacles and return fire. In this game, the two heroes used the Aphelion to battle space pirates. She had a turret that Clank used. The first combat level in this game was the Voron Astroid Belt, where Ratchet and Clank fought the pirate boss Puffy Pants Wallis. The second level was the Rakar Star Cluster, where they flew around a sun and fought Iron Crotch Caruso. The third level was the Verdigris Black Hole, where they destroyed Captain Slag's Pegasus Outpost and flew into the black hole, taking them to planet Jasindu and a battle with Greasepalms McGee.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
In Crack in Time, flying the ship was much more realistic, to get to a planet, Ratchet must control the ship and fly there. There were also many moons and space depots that Ratchet could land on. On the Moons, Ratchet could find Zoni, or Cunstructo mods. On the space depots, There were normally Grummlenet vendors, and a creature who would give you a quest. The quests could be completed for bolts.
