Slambots (incorrectly referred to as Mortar Tosses in the Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One: Official Strategy Guide) were small, bipedal, robotic foes.[1]

Their appearance resembled a mixture of an Operator and a Blade Minion. Its body mostly resembled an Operator, but its head was identical to that of a Blade Minion (minus the two antenna and singular eye-sensor).

Slambots were designed to secure important locations and entrance ways via a mechanical device they are standing in, preventing intruders from bypassing them. Slambots; however, are not built for combat and therefore are incapable of harming Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark or Dr. Nefarious. It can't be killed, but heroes can perform a standard slam attack or Mortar Toss, knocking out the Slambot and overriding the security mechanism it is operating in. Sometimes a group of Slambots will work in tandem, if the heroes are unable to quickly knock them all out in time, they will reactivate.

Much like Operators, Slambots were found within the ranks of both the Minions and Dr. Frumpus Croid's private army.

Trivia

  • Since Slambots and Operators were the only robotic foe to be found in both the ranks of the Minions and Croid's private army, this suggests Slambots existed before the rise the Minions. Their design did; however, share similar features which were standard on other Minions, such as Operators, Scout Minions, and Mortar Minions. Given that most of the Minions were designed by Dr. Nevo Binklemeyer rather than Loki Master, it is likely Operators were designed by Nevo himself.<
  • The Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One: Official Strategy Guide mistakenly listed this enemy as a "Mortar Toss" several times throughout the guide, most notably in the Encyclopedia Attacktica. The title was incorrect; however, as a Mortar Toss is actually a move set which two heroes could perform, in which one hero shoots another hero with a Vac-U 4000 and then performs a slam attack. This move set is required to reach Slambots located on platforms far above the ground, hence explaining the possible mixup of the name on several occasions.
