Pete, better known by his nickname "Rusty Pete", was a space pirate, and the first mate of Captain Slag's pirate crew. He usually appeared alongside his captain singing an off-key Pirate melody.

Pre-Tools of Destruction

Rusty Pete was a space pirate of Captain Angstrom Darkwater's crew, he used to be given wedgies by fellow crew member Fred on annual holidays. He turned traitorous alongside Romulus Slag. When Slag stabbed Darkwater in the back to take over the crew, Pete became first mate of Slag's crew.

However, when Slag and Rusty Pete appeared and demanded that he give it to them, Ratchet was forced to due Pete's threat of killing Clank. The duo soon infiltrated Slag's Fleet in Ublik Passage and defeated him. Slag's body exploded and his head landed in Pete's hands. After briefly mourning his Captain, Rusty Pete named Ratchet new Pirate captain. At the end of the game he tried, to no avail, to teach Qwark to talk like a pirate.

In Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, Rusty Pete and Captain Slag were the narrators. Ratchet searched for Angstrom Darkwater so that he could attempt to reach the Zoni dimension using Darkwater's Fulcrum Star. Rusty Pete accompanied Ratchet and Talwyn Apogee in their attempt to find the Star. Throughout the game, Pete carried Slag's head around on a stick. Later he betrayed Ratchet and resurrected Captain Slag by attaching Slag's head to Darkwater's decapitated body. After Ratchet defeated Slag and Darkwater and Slag's head fell to the depths, Rusty Pete dove into the water to save him, unwittingly throwing the Fulcrum Star to Ratchet. He and Slag were last seen on a crate stuck in the middle of the ocean.

A Crack in Time

Before the events of A Crack in Time, Pete and Slag had somehow returned to Ardolis and became hosts of the Space Radio Station, Pirate Radio. The two plugged advertisements, played songs, took requests, and often bickered. Despite their new jobs, the two still upheld their relationship as Captain and First Mate. Rusty Pete also made his own school called Rusty Pete's School of Piracy.

All 4 One

Sometime prior to the events of All 4 One, Rusty Pete opened up his own burger shack in Luminopolis on Planet Igliak. According to Kip Darling, Pete's veggie-burgers were beloved by hipsters everywhere. In a failed attack by Dr. Nefarious, a Light Eating Z'Grute was unleashed and destroyed much of the city, including the Shack.[1]
