Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile is a platform/action game, released only in North America, exclusively for mobile phones. As a two-dimensional platformer, it was not developed by Insomniac Games nor High Impact Games but by the company Handheld Games. Ratchet and Clank were transported in an electronic device (the phone you are holding in your hands) via the Macro Corporeal Geo Fragmention Ion Negator and had to fight their way back out. There were seven weapons available, and twelve levels. There were four basic types of enemies in the game: security bots, security tanks, chickenbots, explodos, and a final boss.
Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile was the first and only two-dimensional Ratchet & Clank installment, especially made for mobile phones. The two current versions are 1.0.8, which supported phones with better graphic display and version 1.9.8, for phones with weaker graphics.
After being invited to preview some new Bio Matter Converter technology which was accidentally activated, Ratchet and Clank were transported inside a Secret Agent Clank Vid-comic. On Clank's advice, Ratchet slid down an infolink, which sent information from one electronic device to another, and the two found a teleporter. After fighting past countless MegaCorp security forces, including chickenbots, security bots, security tanks and explodos. They also rode countless infolinks to dozens of locales seen in the Secret Agent Clank show in the hopes of finding a way back to the analog world, but instead arrived at the Communication Station, where transmissions could be sent out from the digital world and in from the analog world.
The two contacted Big Al to see if he could help them. He told them of the Macro Corporeal Geo Fragmentation Ion Negator (MCGuFIN), which could transport them back into the analog world. He said that he had one in his possession (which was previously used as a door-stop) and would promptly go over and use the Bio Matter Converter technology that the duo were originally invited to preview, to transport the MCGuFIN into his Secret Agent Clank vid-comic for the heroes to retrieve. However, there was a malfunction with the technology, where the MCGuFIN was blasted into six pieces by a power-surge; the pieces being scattered in various Secret Agent Clank vid-comics. They then set out to collect all the pieces, using infolinks and nodes made accessible by Al that lead to the vid-comics. After collecting all the parts and reassembling the MCGuFIN, they returned to Communication Station, to tell Al. He told them that to activate it, they needed access to a special infolink in Maximillian's (Secret Agent Clank's nemesis from the show) office.
After bribing his bouncer similar to how they bribed Qwark's bouncer in the original Ratchet & Clank, they discovered that Maximillian has already left. It seemed he had used the same infolink they needed to activate the MCGuFIN with, and were headed for the link between the vid-comic world and the real world where he could finally escape into the real world and wreak havoc. They sought to confront him, and after many dead-ends, they then faced him; where he revealed that he was leading them into a trap all this time in order to kill them and take the MCGuFIN. After defeating him and his security cannon, they at long last, activated the MCGuFIN by sliding down the appropriated infolink, and prepared to transport themselves back in an unknown place in the analog world.
This left an opening for the sequel, Ratchet & Clank: Clone Home, which was canceled.
This ambiguously canon mobile phone game takes place at some point shortly after Up Your Arsenal, as Ratchet is still using his Adamantine Armor, and the Secret Agent Clank holo-vision series is the driving force behind the plot of this game.
All the weapons are able to be upgraded by the game's third level.

A sequel, Ratchet & Clank: Clone Home, was planned for release in late 2006, but for unknown reasons it was canceled. This marked the first of two years since the series began that a Ratchet & Clank game had not been released. The other was 2010.
