The Quick Select menu allows the player to select a weapon or gadget for use quickly, without going into the pause menu. In every game except for All 4 One, it could be accessed by holding down Triangle and then using the left analog stick to select the desired weapon or gadget. In All 4 One, the Quick Select is assigned to the right stick.

Ratchet & Clank

Quickselect RC1

The Quick Select in Ratchet & Clank

In Ratchet & Clank, the Quick Select holds up to eight weapons and/or gadgets, and has only one ring. Each of the eight weapons and gadgets' icons were displayed, and the selected weapon or gadget's name and, for weapons, ammo status is displayed in the middle. The game does not pause when the Quick Select is being used, so the player runs the risk of getting hurt while changing weapons by using it. The weapons and gadgets on the Quick Select can be customized by selecting "Quick Select" from the Pause Menu. When Clank is being controlled, the Quick Select changes to have only four items: Enter, Wait, Follow, and Attack.

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

The Quick Select in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

In Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, the Quick Select holds eight weapons and/or gadgets, and has only one ring. With each of the eight weapons and gadgets' icons is an experience bar underneath the icon to match the new upgrade system. In this game and in following games, the game pauses when the Quick Select is being used, an improvement over the original Quick Select (yet it can be changed in the options menu to not pause like the original). In the center is the selected weapon or gadget's name and, for weapons, ammo status. Upgraded weapons have yellow icons. The weapons and gadgets on the Quick Select can be customized by selecting "Quick Select" from the Pause Menu. When Clank is being controlled, the Quick Select changes to suit the actions Clank can perform. In this game the quick-select also shows how much experience your weapons have received.

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal

The Quick Select in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal

In Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, the Quick Select holds eight weapons and/or gadgets per ring, and has two rings. The second ring is called the gadget Quick Select by the game's instruction manual, although the player can place weapons on this ring. Up Your Arsenal is the first game to introduce multiple Quick Select rings, and the second ring can be accessed by holding down R1. Once R1 is released, the Quick Select changes back to the first ring. In addition to the experience bar under each weapon icon, there is an experience bar for the selected weapon in the middle. Above the experience bar in the center is the selected weapon or gadget's name and, for weapons, ammo status and version to match the new version-based upgrade system. The weapons and gadgets on the Quick Select can be customized by selecting "Quick Select" from the Pause Menu.

Ratchet: Deadlocked

The Quick Select in Deadlocked

In Ratchet: Deadlocked, the Quick Select has 8 slots per Quick Select page, and 2 Quick Select pages, but only 11 slots are used. The Quick Select is much smaller than in previous games, and slides out from underneath the HUD. The second Quick Select page can be accessed by pressing R1. The Quick Select can't be customized in this game; the icon positions are pre-defined. Omega Mods added a colored dot in the bottom right hand corner of the weapon icons. V99 weapons had purple icons. Selected weapons name, version, experience bar, and ammo status was displayed in the HUD, right above the quick select.

Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile

The Quick Select in Going Mobile

In Going Mobile Quick Select is un-customizable. There are 7 weapons on 7 slots on 1 page, and there is only one page, making it different from every other Ratchet & Clank game. All of the weapons in the game fit on this one ring. In middle of the ring are the weapon name, level, and current ammo status. Each weapon's place is pre-defined like in Deadlocked.

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

Quickselect SM

The Quick Select in Size Matters

In Size Matters, the Quick Select option is easy to control. Like in previous games, it is accessed by holding the Triangle button and can be customized by simply going to the Start Menu and selecting "Quick Select." Also like in previous games, the Quick Select has eight spots on a page. There are usually enough weapons to be put in the selection. (The Lacerator, Sprout-O-Matic, Acid Bomb Glove, etc.) There was only one Quick Select page in this game. In the middle of the Quick Select, current ammo is displayed over max ammo, and under the Quick Select ring the selected weapon's name and version is displayed. Upgraded weapons do not have their version displayed after their name. (For example, the Dual Lacerators, no version number)

Secret Agent Clank

In Secret Agent Clank, there usually are not many choices on the Quick Select screen. This is because Clank is not able to hold or use a lot of weapons. Most of the items Clank receives are gadgets, so the Quick Select is rarely filled. When playing as Ratchet, there are much more choices, such as the Lacerator.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Quickselect ToD

The Quick Select in Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

In Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, the Quick Select holds eight weapons or gadgets per ring, and has three rings. Moving left and right through the rings is done by pressing L1 and R1, respectively. Only the weapon or gadget's name and, for weapons, version and ammo status is displayed in a box below the Quick Select ring. For the first time, the Quick Select appeared in the center of the screen rather than off to the left, and this trend continued for later games. The weapons and gadgets on the Quick Select can be customized by selecting "Quick Select" from the Pause Menu.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty

In Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, the Quick Select holds eight weapons per ring, and has one ring because you only get up to seven weapons in this game. Only the weapon's name, version and ammo status is displayed in a box below the Quick Select ring. The weapons on the Quick Select can't be custumized since there is no option to do so in the pause menu.

Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Quickselect ACiT

The Quick Select in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time

In Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, the Quick Select holds eight weapons per ring, and has three rings. Moving left and right through the rings is done by pressing L1 and R1, respectively. Only weapons can be placed on the Quick Select, as gadgets have their own small Quick Select that is used by pressing the directional buttons on the d-pad. The weapon's name followed by its version, a short description, and its ammo status is displayed in a box below the Quick Select ring. The weapons on the Quick Select can be customized by pressing triangle when viewing a weapon in the Inventory menu.

This is the first game (excluding Quest for Booty) where you can't put gadgets on the Quick Select menu. However, at your first challenge mode you can put any one gadget on your quick select if you customize it at your inventory menu.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One

In All 4 One, the Quick Select appears above character's heads. It is smaller than it is in other games, and colored depending on the character. The game pauses when you are using the quick select in single player, or in multiplayer, if all players use Quick-Select at the same time - which also allows time to plan ahead. If fewer than the set amount of players(say 1 of the 4 players) are accessing the Quick Select, gameplay continues.[1] The weapons and gadgets on the Quick Select can't be customized as they could be in previous games.

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault

In Full Frontal Assault, the player's weapon wheel could only hold a minmum of eight weapons. Pressing the left directional button would select the combuster. Pressing the up directional button would select the plasma bomb launcher or the warmonger. Pressing the right directional button would select the cryoshot.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus

In Into the Nexus, Ratchet's primary quick select held eight weapons, and four weapons for the secondary quick select. A little known trick could be used to customise your quick select by pressing the triangle button and using the directional buttons to sync the selected weapon to a certain location.
