The Imperial Fight Festival is a gladiatorial combat arena in Tools of Destruction. Located on planet Mukow, the festival was a source of entertainment for Emperor Tachyon and his drophyd armies, and features combatants from across the galaxy. Captain Qwark serves as the festival's master of ceremony.

Ratchet and Clank competed, under the disguise Mustachio Furioso, when Qwark collaborated with them by giving them information he had found from Tachyon undercover.

Noobius Maximus[]

This challenge consists of three rounds against different gladiator enemies. In the first round, you'll battle ranged argonoids and melee enemies like terraklons and Hug-Me-Tight Nanny Bots. The second round introduces the longer-range paladrones and close-range detonoids. The third round combines different enemy types. The arena does not have any active hazards.

The argonoids, terraklons, and paladrones possess strong weapons but relatively low toughness. They often cluster together, and their main advantage is utilizing the circular arena to appear out of your field of view. Therefore, you need to remain vigilant. Since these enemies are not very resilient, all weapons are viable against them. Weapons like the Shock Ravager and Shard Reaper are effective in close-range combat, while the Combuster and Predator Launcher work well for long-range encounters. The Plasma Beasts and Fusion Grenade are useful against larger groups and the stronger Nanny Bots. The Plasma Beasts can also serve as crowd control. If needed, the Groovitron can be an even more effective crowd control option.

Introducing Crushto[]

Crushto's attacks include medium-range missile launches, a spray of machine-gun fire, attempting to vacuum Ratchet in and chew him, and blowing him off the side of the arena. To dodge the machine-gun spray, jump over it, while the missiles can be avoided by strafing. It's best to stay in a medium area around the arena to avoid Crushto's other attacks. Don't stray too far from the center to prevent being blown off, but also keep enough distance from Crushto to avoid his devastating bite attack.

The most effective weapon against Crushto is the Predator Launcher, as it can target multiple points on his large body simultaneously. Secondary weapons such as the Plasma Beasts, Fusion Grenade, and Shard Reaper are also good choices due to their high damage output.

Deadlines Are Brutal[]

This is a five round challenge against all types of enemies with a time limit of two minutes. Saw blade hazards are active around the arena.

The time limit is relatively easy to get by especially when attacking enemies that cluster together by using the Fusion Grenade, Plasma Beast, or Shard Reaper. The Shock Ravager is effective against all enemies but the Nanny Bots. The abundance of ammo means there is no need to be conservative with firing, and it is better to just focus on defeating enemies as quickly as possible.

Flaming Cragmite[]

Flaming Cragmite is a challenge in which two fire-spewing statues of Emperor Tachyon are located in the middle of the arena, and a few saw blades surrounding it. The challenge is otherwise a normal arena challenge against all types of enemies.

The statues' flames are relatively easy to avoid by simply staying out of their line of fire, however this is also where most of the difficulty in the challenge comes from: less space to safely move around in. The paladrones pose the most annoying threat for adding further area denial by firing at you from behind the statues, which often combines with the melee terraklons and Nanny Bots attacking you in larger groups.

The Lightning Round[]

This challenge limits Ratchet to the Shock Ravager (or wrench) in a normal arena battle against argonoids, paladrones, and detonoids. There are no active hazards.

The Shock Ravager is a powerful weapon against all enemies fought in this challenge, making it relatively easy. Enemies should be attacked in groups to make the most out of its ammo, particularly if the weapon is not upgraded.

Smack Down at the Disco[]

This challenge limits Ratchet only to the OmniWrench 3000 and makes Groovitron orbs appear in each round, forcing enemies to dance. Four rounds are fought against terraklons, paladrones, argonoids, and no hazards appear on the arena.

A Groovitron orb only appears once per round, providing a relatively short window in which to attack enemies uninterrupted. Because the terraklons, as melee enemies, pose the biggest threat against Ratchet with only a wrench, this time should be used to target them first before attacking the others outside Groovitron phase. Hyper Strikes kill enemies in one hit, whereas Comet Strikes are a safer option but have to hit an enemy twice to finish them. Ultimately, it is important not to become too reliant on the Groovitron phase, but equally important to defeat as many enemies during it as possible.

Return of Crushto[]

This challenge is identical to the normal Crushto challenge aside from one minute time limit. The timer means it is entirely possible to fail the challenge when using weapons inefficient against him. The Predator Launcher (due to having three targets on Crushto) and Fusion Grenade are very effective at taking down Crushto's health as quickly as possible.

Get Your Dang Hands Off![]

This challenge requires all enemies to be defeated with no damage taken. It is fought against terraklons only for the first two rounds, with Nanny Bots introduced the third, and paladrones introduced in the fourth.

Avoiding damage is simply a case of kiting the enemies by staying a good distance away from them, and for the paladrones, a distance from their bomb fire. The Plasma Beasts is effective here as a defensive weapon for Ratchet, while the Fusion Grenade, Shard Reaper, and Shock Ravager are great at knocking enemies back. The Groovitron and Confuzzler Gas can be used in emergencies to prevent Ratchet from being hit.

Well Done, Mustachio![]

This challenge is a five round challenge against all types of enemies with a five minute timer. The saw blades and Tachyon flame statue hazards are both active.

Though the challenge is more difficult than challenges from the first tournament, weapons available at this point such as the Tornado Launcher, Shard Reaper, Buzz Blades and Nano-Swarmers, effective against all types of enemies, are useful here. The Alpha Disruptor is also strong against the Hug-Me-Tight Nanny Bots. Using these weapons, it is possible to simply destroy all enemies from good range without worrying much about the hazards.

Introducing Zorthan[]

Zorthan is an electrified boss (making him immune to the Shock Ravager and deadly on touch). He fires sweeping laser beams, throws replicating lightning balls, and uses a spinning attack toward Ratchet, which can be interrupted by dealing enough damage to him.

Zorthan is a mobile opponent, meaning that simply jumping his attacks is insufficient. As such, it is important to kite around him by staying mobile and keep a good distance, and use strong single target weapons such as the Nano-Swarmers, Shard Reaper, Buzz Blades, and Alpha Disruptor.

Variety is the Spice of Death[]

This challenge is a weapon switcher challenge, in which Ratchet begins with a weapon and when it runs out of ammo, switches randomly to another. Five rounds are fought against all enemy types (except Nanny Bots), and no hazards are present.

Because it is impossible to predict which weapon will be given to Ratchet next, it is important to adapt to the situation and make the best use of the current weapon. If the current weapon is insufficient against the enemy types, simply firing it until its ammo is gone to move to the next is ideal.

They Were On Sale[]

This challenge is a six round challenge against 100 detonoids. No hazards are present.

The challenge is relatively simple, as detonoids can be defeated in few hits. The Shock Ravager, Shard Reaper, Tornado Launcher and other weapons that attack groups can make light work of them, and even placing a Nano-Swarmers nest on the field is often enough to take a round.

In challenge mode, completing the challenge twice presents an easy means of increasing the bolt multiplier to x20.

Untouchable[]

This is another challenge in which Ratchet cannot take any damage. It is four rounds against paladrones, terraklons, and Hug-Me-Tight Nanny Bots, with sawblade hazards.

As with "Get Your Dang Hands Off", the strategy is the same: keeping a distance and using defensive weapons. In this case, standing in the middle of the arena with Nano-Swarmers deployed and using ranged weapons such as the Buzz Blades is ideal. The paladrones in particular should be killed as quickly as possible to prevent Ratchet needing to move too much, and the Groovitron can be used in emergencies.

Tag Team[]

This is a challenge against both Crushto and Zorthan. The two will swap out mid-battle for one another after taking damage.

The strategy against them as a tag team is the same as that against them individually. However, because few ammo crates are deployed, it is likely multiple weapons will go empty before the fight ends. As such, it is important to adapt on the fly and use different suitable weapons as needed.

Light a Match, Mustachio![]

In this challenge, during the three rounds, Ratchet takes damage, although a few nanotech crates are deployed. Terraklons and paladrones are fought. There are no hazards.

Taking damage means Ratchet can be knocked back, and the gas can make enemies harder to see. Beyond this, the challenge is fairly simple. If Ratchet is ever low on health, the Leech Bomb can help.

Heavy Hitters[]

This challenge involves only the Alpha Disruptor for four ronds. Ammo for the weapon is regenerated after every shot. Sawblades are present, and enemies fought are argonoids, paladrones, and Hug-Me-Tight Nanny Bots and detonoids in the final round.

Because the Alpha Disruptor is so powerful and has a strong range, it is best to keep a good distance from enemies are fire. The main challenge comes in the weapon's low rate of fire. As such, aiming shots to defeat the paladrones and argonoids when they cluster together in groups is efficient in taking them out quickly, or lining up a shot through multiple at once.

Zorthan's Revenge[]

This challenge is another Zorthan battle but with a 2 minute timer. The strategy is the same as other battles, but using the Nano-Swarmers and Mr. Zurkon to add supplemental fire on top of Ratchet's main weapon can be helpful to take Zorthan down quicker.

Everyone Wants a Piece of Mustachio[]

The final challenge is five rounds against all types of enemies, with no hazards, and a tag team at the end against Crushto and Zorthan.

It may be ideal to save up stronger weapons (such as the Alpha Disruptor) against Crushto and Zorthan, using less powerful weapons on the earlier gladiators. Due to the abundance of ammo crates, avoiding breaking them until the tag team at the end can make more available against the tag team.
