Difficulty is a setting which many games use to determine how hard the player will find the game. Difficulty settings often decide how much damage the player's weapons cause, how much health the player loses upon getting hit (or how much maximum Nanotech the player starts with), how much damage the enemies' weapons cause, and how much health the enemies have.
There are five difficulty settings in order of difficulty:
Couch Potato is the easiest difficulty setting in Ratchet Deadlocked. The enemies would deal very low damage and would not be very tough. Nanotech Crates would also give a high amount of Nanotech.
Contestant is the second easiest difficulty setting in Ratchet: Deadlocked. Winning challenges therein gives the player two stars.
Gladiator was the third easiest and the third hardest difficulty setting in Ratchet: Deadlocked. Completing challenges therein would grant the player 3 stars.
Completing challenges in Ratchet: Deadlocked gives the player four stars. Nanotech crates would also only give 15% of current maximum Nanotech.
Exterminator was the hardest difficulty setting in Ratchet: Deadlocked. Playing on this mode and completing DreadZone challenges would get you five stars. Nanotech Crates would also only give 10% of current maximum Nanotech. It was unselectable unless the player had a save file in Challenge mode.
Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for BootyEdit
There are three settings in order of difficulty:
Ratchet & Clank: Size MattersEdit
Secret Agent ClankEdit
Like Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank has also two harder modes of gameplay: Challenge and Hardcore modes.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in TimeEdit
There are three difficulty settings in A Crack in Time. When you finish the game for the first time you will unlock, aside from the usual Challenge Mode, a fourth difficulty option: Hardcore. In hardcore mode, projectile based enemy attacks were faster and damage that Ratchet received was increased substantially as well as enemies having more health. Boss Battles had no health crates or ammo crates, making them far more difficult than on other difficulty settings
Ratchet & Clank: Into the NexusEdit
Cadet is a difficulty setting. It is the easiest difficulty setting in Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. The trophy A Walk in the Park can be earned by completing Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus in cadet difficulty or higher.
Hero is the middle difficulty setting in Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. It is for experienced players. The trophy The Adventurer can be earned by completing Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus in Hero difficulty or higher.
Legend is a difficulty setting. It is the hardest difficulty setting in Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus and is said to be for expert players. The trophy The Legend can be earned by completing Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus in Legend difficulty or higher.

There are three difficulty settings in addition to Challenge Mode.
Upon starting a new game, you are required to choose a difficulty. Upon starting a new Challenge Mode game, you can also choose which difficulty to play Challenge Mode in, which adds upon Challenge Mode's already increased difficulty.
