The Warmonger is a weapon in All 4 One, Full Frontal Assault, Into the Nexus, Ratchet & Clank (2016 game), the Ratchet & Clank movie, and Rift Apart. It is a terraklon-designed rocket launcher, manufactured and sold by GrummelNet Industries.

The Warmonger can be upgraded to the Elite Warmonger for 60,000 bolts in All 4 One. Through experience, it would upgrade to the Alpha Warmonger in Full Frontal Assault, and to the Peacemaker in Into the Nexus, Ratchet & Clank (2016 game), and Rift Apart. In challenge mode, the Omega Peacemaker could be purchased and upgraded further.

History[]

Re-imagined[]

The 2016 re-imagined game is primarily an unreliable retelling of events by Qwark.
The re-imagined game primarily describes Captain Qwark's account of events. As Qwark is an unreliable narrator, and contradictory events are in-universe fiction (though those which correspond still apply). Please see Project:Bulletin board/Canon for the wiki's coverage of canon.
Warmonger (2016 movie)

In the Ratchet & Clank movie, the Warmonger was one of the weapons Captain Qwark gave to Ratchet during his training for the Galactic Rangers, where it was designated as "Ranger weapon ID 86231". Qwark also later used the Warmonger against Ratchet during their battle on the Deplanetizer. In Qwark's retelling of events, the Warmonger was manufactured by Gadgetron and purchased by Ratchet from one of their vendors.

Main continuity[]

The Warmonger was designed by the terraklons as part of their "No Alien Left Alive" initiative.[1] GrummelNet later obtained the design, manufacturing and selling it.

Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and Dr. Nefarious first acquired the Warmonger during All 4 One. Ratchet, and later Rivet, then went on to use the weapon in a number of adventures thereafter.

Characteristics[]

The Warmonger is a terraklon rocket launcher firing high-velocity, raritanium-tipped warheads that reduce foes to powdered ash.

Gameplay[]

All 4 One[]

The Warmonger first becomes available at the Orthani Gorge in the Deadgrove for 6,000 bolts, and becomes available to upgrade with additional bolts upon later reaching the Mining Camp. Allies using Warmongers in combination cause a large explosion. It is not upgraded with use, but its ammo can be upgraded for 10,000 bolts, and its power for 25,000 bolts. After purchasing the ammo and power upgrades, it can receive an elite upgrade for 60,000 bolts. Upon being upgraded to the Elite Warmonger, the weapon will fire four rockets simultaneously per shot.

The Warmonger can be purchased upon reaching the Korgon Refinery on Markazia. The weapon deals strong damage, but has low ammo. It begins with 5 rockets, and once upgraded to LVL 3, became the Alpha Warmonger with 7 rockets. The Warmonger Turret was also available, with the slowest rate of fire but highest damage of the turrets.

In multiplayer, the Warmonger has three missiles (originally five, reduced in patch 1.04).

Into the Nexus[]

The Warmonger is available to purchase upon reaching planet Thram. It can be upgraded with raritanium upgrades, including upgrades to its ammo, rate of fire, blast radius, and shrapnel cache, and also had a special heat-seeking rocket upgrade allowing missiles to lock onto enemies. It could also be upgraded to V3, transforming it to the Peacemaker, which shot out shrapnel to hit enemies upon reaching an opponent.

The Warmonger is a powerful weapon with a low rate of fire and initially low ammunition. While it is effective at defeating most enemies, it can run out of ammunition if not fired conservatively, and fires slowly, making it relatively ineffective against large hordes of enemies. It is best used against tougher enemies, bosses, as well as mini-bosses such as gargathons.

When upgraded to the Peacemaker, missiles dispense shrapnel or microckets when they hit targets which can hit surrounding enemies. This makes the Warmonger more broadly useful when upgraded, and more useful against clusters of smaller enemies, though it is still best used against larger enemies primarily.

Ratchet & Clank (2016 game)[]

The Warmonger becomes available to purchase for 28,000 bolts on Batalia. With use, it upgraded to the Peacemaker. The Warmonger was also upgraded using raritanium: basic upgrades increase the holocard drop rate, the damage of the rocket directly and by its blast radius, and its rate of fire; mystery upgrades include two Microrocket Expansion uphrades that release an additional microrocket when the rocket fired directly explodes, Heavy Bearings that increases the ammo capacity, and Thermal Targeting that causes the missiles to track enemies. In challenge mode, the Omega Peacemaker can be purchased for 256,000 bolts.

As in Into the Nexus, the Warmonger is a strong weapon that is effective against single targets and bosses, but initially limited by its low ammo and rate-of-fire. Therefore, a raritanium investment in the weapon can be worthwhile to alleviate the problem, and obtain the valuable Microrocket Expansion upgrades to greatly increase the weapon's value.

Rift Apart[]

The Warmonger becomes available upon returning to Zurkie's, Scarstu Debris Field during "Build the Dimensionator". Raritanium upgrades are available, similar in nature to those in Ratchet & Clank, and fully maxing its level upgrades it to the Peacemaker. In challenge mode, the Omega Peacemaker can be purchased for 500,000 bolts.

The Warmonger has a similar role to the previous two titles: it is a strong weapon against single targets that is limited by low ammo and low rate-of-fire until it receives a raritanium investment. Another major distinction in Rift Apart is that it is a long-range weapon. This is extremely valuable in allowing it to combat ranged or flying enemies, as well as the usual bosses and minibosses. Once acquired, it is the strongest ranged weapon against these threats, making it very worthy of a raritanium investment.

Behind the scenes[]

The Warmonger used the same icon as the Negotiator.

The Warmonger featured in 8-bit Mini Mayhem‏ and in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
